After your braces are removed, teeth have the tendency to move back towards their previous position. A custom retainer prevents the movement of your teeth while your ligaments have healed and allows time for your jaw bones to solidify around them.
A custom retainer is a thermoformed device created specifically to fit your mouth and is worn to continue to keep teeth straight after braces. Custom clear retainers are the best choice where comfort is of concern over traditional ones and can be worn throughout the day without any wires showing.
They are the same for a fraction of the price. Our professional dental labs located in Sydney, Australia all use the same equipment, materials, and processes to create our our custom retainers. In fact, dentists outsource their clear retainers.
Retainers continue to keep teeth in alignment after braces, while aligners are used as an alternative to braces.
It’s recommended to wear your retainers at least 12 hours every day for the first 8 weeks following the completion of your orthodontic treatment. Thereafter, you should consult with your orthodontist before you begin wearing your retainers at night only. Wearing your retainers regularly is recommend however not whilst eating or drinking.
If you skip wearing your retainers, you will notice some tightness when using your retainers. This is a sign that your teeth may be moving and you might need to start wearing them more frequently. It’s also recommended by orthodontists to continue to wear your retainers once or twice a week while sleeping for the rest of your life.
Absolutely not. Although clear retainers are custom-fitted to the mouth, the specs are made differently and will not give you the desired outcome and end up being a waste of money. The gel for teeth whitening will not cover the entire surface of your teeth. Retainers are made to fit close to the teeth and gums, and using them as whitening trays would push the gel out of the tray into the mouth.

Our retainers are created from Polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PET-G), a remarkably strong and durable material that will keep your teeth from moving.
We recommend using Polident Daily Cleanser tablets. They will remove 99.9% of odour-causing bacteria, help to remove tough stains and reduce plaque from your retainers. They can be bought from the following retailers: Chemist Warehouse, Amcal, Priceline, Woolworths and Coles.
